Nutritional Therapy Career Guide
Nutrition Schools
Proper nutrition is a fundamental building block of health and wellness. Though conventional medicine has often neglected this area of practice, it’s importance is rapidly being acknowledged as a crucial step in the healing process and healthy living in general. Nutritional guidance can vary depending upon the system being used. Though all work toward optimum health in the body, some may emphasize the integration of mind, body, and spirit, and others may be more medically oriented and rehabilitative.
History:
Food has been seen as a building block of health since ancient times. In 400 B.C., Hippocrates said, “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food.” Past cultures discovered qualities of food that relieved ailments of many kinds. Throughout history, this study has evolved into a complex knowledge hub with the ability to stimulate health and wellness, and even treat disease.
Typical Treatment:

Nutritional Therapy counseling can differ greatly depending upon the system being used. Nutritionists often begin with a series of questions to get acquainted with you current diet and lifestyle. Some will then work with clients to create proper eating plans and guide them along the way while other programs may involve intensive nutritional care where proper sources of nutrition are actually prepared and administered to a patient. All forms of nutritional counseling ultimately help patients and clients move toward independence in proper eating practices.
